ABU DHABI // Kirsty Gallacher, Sky Sports presenter and British TV personality, was today announced as the host of this year’s Chequered Flag Ball.
The Ball – a star-studded red carpet celebration that provides a glamourous start to the Abu Dhabi Formula One weekend by bringing together celebrities from sports, show business and music – will be held this year on November 11 at the brand new St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort.
Ms Gallacher, daughter of former European Ryder Cup captain Bernhard Gallacher, has confirmed her attendance.
“I love the F1 and Yas Marina is a great track in a city we hear more and more about,”
she said in a statement released today by event organisers urbanevents.
“The F1 weekend is an occasion in itself and I’m really excited about starting my Abu Dhabi F1 weekend with the Chequered Flag Ball.”
Local television/radio personality and sports commentator Tom Urquart – of both the Studio One how on Dubai One and the Dubai Eye’s sports show ‘The Grill’, which premiered on September 10 – will also be hosting the evening alongside Ms Gallacher.
British soul singer Mica Paris and former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan’s band Eddie and The Robbers have also been confirmed as headline acts for the event.
VIP and classic tickets for are already available for purchase by filling out a booking form on www.chequeredflagball.com. The classic tickets are priced at Dh2,000 each; for a classic table for 10, the cost is Dh20,000 and a VIP table for 10 is Dh25,000.
