A federal authority announced which legislation must be added to existing human resources rules at local government entities.
Job priority after UAE national service key point in amended human resources laws
Emiratis who have completed their national service will be given priority when applying for jobs and promotions, under new human resources regulations for local government organisations.
It was part of the changes outlined in an announcement by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources about legislation that must be added to existing rules to comply with National Service and Reserve Law No 6 of 2014.
“One of the key legislative points is that priority in recruitment will be given to those who have completed their national service,” Dr Abdul Rahman Al Awar, the director general of the authority, told Al Ittihad, The National’s Arabic-language sister paper.
“They will also be first in line for promotion upon meeting all other requirements for Emirati nationals who have completed their national duty in military service.”
There will be a meeting of HR representatives in the private sector in coordination with the Ministry of Labour, The National HR Development and Employment Authority Tanmia, and the Abu Dhabi Emiratisation Council.
Dr Al Awar said his agency and the National and Reserve Service Authority had received the details of Emiratis eligible for national service from five local agencies so far.
An memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the authorities to ensure cooperation and clarify the process of implementing the law. Another MoU was signed between the General Command of the Armed Forces and the Court of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, marking their cooperation to raise awareness of the importance of national service in schools and universities.
