DUBAI // A male accountant who put a hidden camera in the men’s toilet at a mall was sentenced to six months in jail on Tuesday.

“Yes, I did,” said Kenyan EO, 35, when asked at Dubai Criminal Court if he had placed a camera at the men’s restroom at Deira City Centre.

The court heard that the camera was found on December 1 last year by a Bangladeshi cleaner.

“It was 9pm when I went to clean the restroom and noticed a black, small-size camera placed in the ventilator and directed to the toilets,” said MA, 26, who added that he could not tell if it was recording or not when he found it. “I didn’t touch it,” he noted.

MA informed his supervisor, who called police.

The camera was found to contain footage of the Kenyan man placing it in the toilets.

Police circulated his description and, on December 30, he was arrested.

“He confessed willingly to installing the camera so he can pleasure himself at the sight of naked men,” testified a police officer in records.

The prosecution said the camera had a full recording showing the defendant installing it and then leaving the toilets.

The man confessed during both police and prosecution investigations.

He will be deported after completing his jail term.
