DUBAI // Internet failures have been reported this morning around the Sofouh area of Dubai, which include Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Beach Residence and Dubai Media City.
Internet users in these locations said they have had trouble getting online since about 7am.
"My cable television is working fine however I could not get internet access," said Reema Sobhy, a Dubai Marina Resident.
The affected area is handled by telecoms operator Du, other areas handled by the company do not appear to have bad problems.
"This seems like a ... domain name server error, a problem with the operator," said Paul David, a British information technology manager who lives in Dubai Marina.
"When you log online every web address has a code, an IP address. The DNS server converts that address to an IP and opens the page, however it seems to not be operating at this time," he said. "When I typed in the numeric IP address for the BBC, it worked, but when I typed www.bbc.co.uk it failed."
A du statement this afternoon said: "Our team have identified a slight temporary degradation in the internet service and have resolved it. We would like to assure our customers that the internet service is now back to normal, and we apologise for any inconvenience they may have faced."
