Illegal RAK resident arrested for planting marijuana on UAE farm
RAK // An illegal Asian resident has been arrested for allegedly growing a cannabis plant in a rural area and selling the drug to workers.
The man was arrested after a tip-off to the narcotics department at the general department of police operations at RAK Police.
The director of the narcotics department, Colonel Ibrahim Ali Kaptain, said the suspect was apprehended in a police ambush.
The man confessed and said that he got the marijuana seeds from a friend and he planted them among trees in an Emirati citizen's farm.
When the plant grew he built a fence around it to protect it from wild animals.
Colonel Kaptain said that the narcotics department has arrested 50 suspects of various nationalities in 40 operations during the first four months of this year.
