'Illegal immigrants' caught by customs officials in Al Ain
The passengers were found hidden in the trunks of the trucks.
Two truck drivers were caught trying to smuggle three illegal immigrants into the country at the Mezyad Customs Centre in Al Ain.
Officials at Mezyad Customs Centre discovered two people of Arab origin hiding in the trunk of a vehicle driven by an Arab driver after becoming suspicious of the driver and subjecting the truck to further inspections.
In the second incident, a truck driver from an undisclosed Asian country aroused suspicion in the course of customs formalities, prompting officials to enhance their inspections and uncover an illegal immigrant of African origins hiding in the vehicle’s trunk. In both cases, the passengers did not hold any identification papers.
