HSBC UAE customers have been struck by excess charges on their Visa cards last week following a computer system issue.

Some customers have been charged three to four times the amount due to the bank.

The bank said a technical issue resulted in the overcharging on a number of transactions that happened on December 2.

It has assured customers that they will be protected against any potential losses from these transactions.

Angry customers took to the social media to express their concern over the issue.

We are in the process of rectifying the issue and we want to assure our affected customers that we will reverse any incorrect amounts, fees and charges that resulted from this issue. We regret any inconvenience caused,” the bank said in a statement.
