A housemaid has been sentenced to three months in jail after allowing her lover into her sponsor's home and posting pictures of the two of them on social media.
The 32-year-old Filipino was arrested and charged in June this year after her employer spotted images of the couple on Facebook.
In an effort to obtain further proof, the homeowner, a 74-year-old retired soldier, installed surveillance cameras at the property.
And after recording video footage of the pair together he confronted the maid, also accusing her of stealing a ring belonging to his wife.
“I checked her Facebook account and saw the pictures,” he told police. “In some of them she was with a man inside my living room.
“In another, she was wearing my wife’s expensive ring which went missing a while ago.”
Dubai Criminal Court heard how the incident unfolded at the home of the Emirati man in Al Qusais.
He told the court that his maid had abused his trust by both stealing from him and by letting a stranger into his house while he was away visiting family.
Camera footage showed the Filipino and her lover inside the home dancing to music.
When confronted, he claimed the maid admitted having sex with the man at the property as well as stealing the ring. In court, however, the maid denied theft and having consensual sex.
“The signs of them having an affair were clear,” the Emirati told the hearing.
Police said they had not been able to identify the maid’s lover. The court ordered that she be deported after completing her sentence.
