Residents of the oasis city converge at the Green Mubazzarah and Jebel Hafeet to celebrate the National Day.
Horse displays and poetry mark the party in Al Ain
Roads leading to Al Ain City Centre, Green Mubazzarah and Jebel Hafeet were jammed with throngs of Emiratis and expatriates.
These locations have always been a focal point for celebrations in Al Ain, the oasis city of the Emirates, and with the reopening of Souq Al Qattara, there is a new destination for families to visit.
Some have visited three times since the souq opened on Thursday, and said they would go again today with friends and relatives. The site has a long history and much culture attached to it, making it especially appealing.
Celebrations were held at the Green Mubazzarah and Jebel Hafeet. There was a horse parade at Green Mubazzarah and at the same site the Hessa bin Mohammed School for Basic Education raised a 30x8 metre flag.
UAE University had festivities showcasing a love for the Emirates and many took advantage of the weather, celebrating in special tents rigged up at various locations in the city where poetry was recited.
