Holiday, alcohol ban announced for Prophet Mohammed's birthday

The holiday won't be moved despite falling on a Saturday.

This Saturday, February 4, is to be a holiday for all employees in the UAE to celebrate the Prophet Mohammed’s birthday.

The Government of Dubai Media Office - Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid's official media outlet - issued a Twitter statement today stating that despite falling on a weekend, the date would not be moved, however it will be marked as a holiday for everyone, including private company employees who work on Saturdays.

It has also been announced that the UAE will be dry from 5.30pm on Friday, February 3 until 6.30pm the next day.
