DUBAI // Customs officials have seized 3.5kg of heroin that was being smuggled into the country inside steel car parts. A customs inspector noticed some unevenness in four packages that arrived from an undisclosed Asian country, Omar al Muhairi, the senior manager of air cargo operations at Dubai Customs, said yesterday. The inspector then X-rayed the parts and discovered the narcotics.
The case has been transferred to the General Department of the Anti-Narcotics Department at Dubai Police.
In June, customs officials seized 8kg of heroin also stashed inside steel car parts and sent from an unnamed Asian country.
