'Hero' firefighter dies in car accident

As emergency crews tried to free people stuck in vehicle, they also found colleague Khaled Al Rouliamong the victims

A 'hero' firefighter died after being trapped in a vehicle as a result of a car accident on Wednesday.

Fujairah Police received a report about the accident at 2.30pm and rushed to the site along with other emergency crews.

During the rescue operation, as firefighters attempted to free the trapped people in the vehicle, they were saddened to find that one of those inside was a colleague who had died of his injuries.

The deceased, who has been identified as warrant officer Khaled Al Rouli, was a member of the unit in Dadna area in Fujairah.

“We lost one of our heroes who was known for his good manners and dedication to work. We express our condolences to the deceased’s family,” said Col Khalid Al Hamoudi, deputy director of Fujairah Civil Defence.
