Sheikh Zayed hot air balloon launched in Jordan
The balloon will remain in Jordan until March 14 and will fly over a number of landmarks
A hot air balloon emblazoned with the image of Sheikh Zayed was launched in Petra on Saturday in tribute to the UAE's Founding Father and the country's message.
Members of the public gathered in the historic city to watch the Sharjah-based Al Qasimia University launch the balloon, aptly named "Year of Zayed 2018".
Capt Pilot Abdulaziz Al Mansouri, Head of the UAE Hot Air Balloon Team, said the team's activities in Jordan are part of an Arab and global tour to spread the UAE’s message of tolerance, and peaceful co-existence among the people of the world.
He thanked the Jordanian government for their help and permission to perform across the country.
The balloon will remain in Jordan until March 14 and will fly over a number of landmarks including the ancient Karak Castle and the desert village of Dias in Wadi Rum.
