The Ministry of Health has asked the Ministry of Environment and Water, Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority and Dubai Municipality to recall six herbal weight loss products.
The products are Slimidia Revolution, Perfect Figures, Nan Fanf Yirn Slimming Coffee Pure Taste, Charantin Slimming, Zirantang Slimming, Slimming Biscuit and Brazil Black Coffee. Cube Inc., in Richmond, British Columbia, markets them all.
Authorities said the products contain unauthorised or undeclared components and substances that can cause high blood pressure and accelerated heart beats, which could lead to strokes.
Dr Ameen Al Amiri, assistant undersecretary for medical practices and licenses at the Ministry of Health, said the ministry has also asked the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority to block a website promoting one of the products, for marketing an unregistered herbal product.
