More than 1,000 residents in Ajman have benefited from a dozen mobile Covid-19 clinics operating in the emirate.

The medical units offer Covid-19 vaccines and testing to citizens and residents across  Ajman.

They are run by volunteers from the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak programme, under the supervision of the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority and the Ministry of Health and Prevention.

They were inaugurated on Monday by Maj Gen Shaikh Sultan Al Nuaimi, commander-in-chief of Ajman police and head of the Emergency, Crisis and Disaster management team of Ajman.

The service will provide "mobile and rapid solutions for early diagnosis and vaccinations within the framework of joint efforts between state institutions to combat the spread of the coronavirus", the Maj Gen said.

Dubai also has three mobile clinics, operating under the Wellness on Wheels initiative organised by the Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences and Dubai Health Authority.

The initiative launched about 18 months ago seeks to bring health screening and dentistry, mainly to blue-collar workers.

More than 8,000 people received the Covid-19 vaccination at the mobile clinics in less than a month.
