Our Health Reporter Jennifer Bell found out what it was like in the UAE’s busiest accident and emergency department when she spent an afternoon in Dubai’s Rashid Hospital Trauma Centre.

Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the Rashid Hospital Trauma Centre is dedicated to treating emergency patients in Dubai and the Northern Emirates as the busy rotating team of staff tends to tens of thousands of patients each year.

Patients use the accident and emergency centre for all types of illnesses and injury including victims of road traffic accidents, injuries on worksites, heat attacks, infectious diseases and major disasters in the region.

The hospital’s trauma team invited The National to provide a real time account of the frontline of health care in the UAE and the range of conditions and reasons people visit the Trauma Centre.
