ABU DHABI // Health tips and advice were offered to customers and employees of Abu Dhabi City Municipality by paramedics and dieticians as part of an awareness drive.

The campaign, titled Your Health in Ramadan, was held in cooperation with Universal Hospital.

“The municipality selected the holy month of Ramadan because it is associated with improper dietary habits by a majority of people,” said Abdul Aziz Zurub, the director of environment, health and safety.

“This prompted the municipality to raise the awareness about the importance of adopting sound dietary practices that maintain people’s health and at the same realise the benefits of fasting as a cure and prevention from diseases.”

He said the civic body was keen to pursue the programme by promoting changes in nutrition that could positively impact residents’ lifestyle.

A dietary corner was set up where medical consultations were offered by specialists from Universal Hospital.

Dr Ahmed Majid, the hospital’s business development director, said it planned to deploy specialist medical and paramedics teams on a regular basis to places frequented by workers in Abu Dhabi city and suburban areas.

“Such a practice lives up to the commitment of the hospital to the community’s health and integrity,” he said.
