The Ministry of Health sent 59 warnings to local health authorities about the side effects of certain products between January and April.
The ministry issued 22 circulars, warned against 12 herbal products, and ordered another product to be withdrawn from the market, according to Dr Fatima Ali Al Braiki, the director of drug control and registration department.
Several programmes are being introduced to raise medication alertness, particularly the side effects of drugs that threaten patients' safety, she said.
