DUBAI // Residents in Dubai are getting happier, according to a recent survey by Community Development Authority.
The level of happiness of people living in the emirate has increased, on a scale of 1 to 10, from 7.9 in 2011 to 8.2 in 2015.
The results of the 4th Dubai Social Survey, which was conducted in cooperation with Dubai Statistics Centre, were released on Monday.
Ahmed Abdulkarim Julfar, chief executive of CDA, said the latest survey, which aims to measure the current levels of key performance indicators of the Dubai Strategic Plan, show that the emirate is headed in the right direction.
“The last three surveys provided us with a clearer image of how to improve services and shed light on residents’ opinions and satisfaction of them,” he said.
A total of 15,165 people took part in the survey, including 9,709 Emiratis.
The happiness of the population is measured by residents’ satisfaction of the emirates’ collective services, policies and practices.
Most nationality groups scored between 8.2 and 8.4, however, people from Arab countries scored the lowest on the happiness scale, with 7.4.
According to the latest survey, 97.7 per cent of the emirate’s population feels safe and has faith in Dubai Police’s efforts.
It also showed that 62 per cent of Emiratis with disabilities enjoy full independence and self-reliance.
