A denture made in Dubai will give its owner the world’s most sparkling smile. It will also take quite a bite out of their savings.

The gold denture encrusted with diamonds, crafted in Dubai, has been valued at Dh562,000.

But there is no risk of getting the odd piece of parsley caught between the teeth – they are not to be used for eating.

Dr Majd Naji, director of Liberty Dental Clinic, which made the cosmetic frontal denture, said Dh100,000 from its sale would go to a children’s charity.

“When the people of the UAE received the title of world’s happiest people, the clinic thought about making the world’s most expensive smile and to offer parts of the proceeds from it to charity,” Dr Naji said.

“We acquired authenticity and clarity certificates for the gold and the diamonds used in the denture from the International Gemological Institute in Belgium. Ten grams of 24-carat gold were used, in addition to 160 round diamonds that totalled 2.5 carats.”

He said the denture was expected to receive a certificate from Guinness World Records for the most expensive smile.

It can be ready after two sessions for fitting and the procedure does not require any drilling or filling of teeth.

Dr Naji said a similar denture is being made and part of its proceeds will also go to charity.
