Coronavirus: UAE records 624 new cases

UAE's total number of infections now stands at 37,642 after 44,000 more tests conducted

The UAE on Friday recorded another 624 cases of the novel coronavirus, after the Ministry of Health and Prevention conducted more than 44,000 tests.

The announcement brings UAE's total number of infections to 37, 642.

The country confirmed 765 cases of recovery, bringing that total to 20,337.

The UAE reported one further death over the last 24 hours, bringing the country's total to 274.

The country is now re-starting its economy with malls, cinemas and restaurants all now open again.

And earlier this week, the UAE announced it would resume transit flights through its three international airports.

Following the news, Etihad announced a new transfer service linking 20 cities in Europe, Asia and Australia, via Abu Dhabi, from Wednesday, June 10.

Emirates has also said it will offer passenger services to 16 more cities from June 15.

Places of worship, which have been closed to the public since the middle of March, said they expect a decision on when they can re-open next week.
