As international efforts to contain the spread of coronavirus intensify, Dubai Airports have revealed how it is screening travellers to detect any potential cases.

The strict measures implemented by authorities can be seen in a video, shared by Dubai Media Office on Tuesday.

In it, passengers arriving at Dubai Airports are shown undergoing thermal screening to check if any travellers have a fever. Passengers from countries with high infection rates are screened twice.

"Among the most important precautions undertaken by the UAE government is securing the safety of the ports of entry - among the most important of these are the airports," said Dr Badriya Al Harmi, head of public health at Dubai Health Authority.

"In cases where a high temperature, or any symptoms of the coronavirus, is detected in a passenger [during thermal screening], there are medical teams from Dubai Health Authority on hand to perform a medical check up and proceed with any necessary treatment," she said.

Dubai Health Authority staff members are available at the airport at all hours to conduct tests on site.

Any suspected cases are carefully taken to a nearby hospital.
