A quarantine centre, capable of housing almost 10,000 patients, has opened on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi.
The quarantine complex – named Complex 3 – is an addition to Al Razeen field hospital, where coronavirus patients are treated.
Faisal Al Kamali, vice president of facility and infrastructure management at the centre, said the extension, that has 2,784 rooms, was built in "record time" and can accommodate 9,984 patients.

The complex opened on Sunday and is operated by medical staff, administrators and security personnel. Patients transferred to the complex are kept there for the duration of their quarantine period to avoid infecting others with Covid-19.
While at the complex, patients are given access to all necessary services and have three daily meals delivered, said Mr Al Kamali, who is also Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs.
Al Razeen hospital opened in May to treat coronavirus patients and to "lift the burden" from existing centres.
The high-tech complex was built in nine days, stretches across 46,500 square feet and is dedicated to treating workers from nearby labour accommodation.
The hospital has 200 beds for regular Covid-19 patients plus an intensive care unit with 50 beds.
