A six-year-old autistic boy has fallen to his death from the 11th floor balcony of his apartment in Sharjah.
The police in the emirate are investigating the death of the African boy after the accident was reported at 3.55pm on Sunday, Arabic newspaper, Al Roeya reported.
"Police patrols and criminal investigation teams of Al Gharb Police Station rushed to the accident site after receiving the report, and found that the child suffered from an autism spectrum disorder," said a police official.
The boy fell after he climbed a chair that was placed in the balcony at their apartment in Abu Shagara area.
The mother was unaware of the child when he sneaked out.
He died on the spot after sustaining severe skull fractures and brain haemorrhage.
The child was taken to the emergency department at Al Qasimi Hospital by ambulance personnel to issue a medical report.
The case has now been transferred to the forensic department to complete the legal procedures.
