ABU DHABI // A health and fitness event will be held to coincide with National Day celebrations and inspire the community to take up a more active lifestyle.

The four-day Abu Dhabi Alive festival, which begins on November 27 at Zayed Sports City, will educate residents on the benefits of healthier habits.

There will be free consultations, group classes such as Zumba and family activities including fitness tests, live street dancing and cooking shows.

The event, sponsored by the national health insurer Daman, will offer free body-mass assessments.

Abu Dhabi Sports Council will promote its vision of sport as an industry, developing the culture of sports professionalism and encouraging investment.

Adventure HQ will erect a climbing wall and Point Zero Flotation will set up equipment to teach the benefits of floatation therapy.

“Our mission is to provide residents of Abu Dhabi with an alternative medical facility, offering natural, healthy practices for a better lifestyle,” said Dr Asma Inamdar, a specialist in ayurvedic and holistic medicine at Point Zero.

“Our three mediums of flotation therapy, ayurveda and body works intertwine to help analyse the body as a whole.”

Free eye screening will be offered by RSU Healthcare, while Unicef will offer advice specifically for children’s health.

Entry to the event, which will run from 11am to 8pm, is free.
