New health facilities and services are to be built in the emirate, the Abu Dhabi Executive Council has revealed.
In a meeting on Wednesday, headed by the secretary general Mohammed Ahmed Al Bawardi a council committee approved a number of health projects, including a dialysis centre, three special needs centres, and a new specialised medical centre.
The dialysis centre, to be called Sheikh Khalifa Medical City's Dialysis Centre, will include 66 dialysis units, and will be complete with services to treat patients with kidney failure.
This, they said, will help upgrade health services in the emirate.
The committee also approved a new medical centre in Al Towayya area in Al Ain.
The centre was part of a plan to transform health clinics to specialised medical centres, all of which comply with international standards.
Locations of the centres are carefully picked to bring the best services closer to peoples homes.
Three new care and rehabilitation centres will come to Al Ain and Al Gharbia, providing people with special needs with support to become self-reliant in order to help integrate them into society.
The centres will also offer a number of medical services, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, early intervention, psychological, social and education services, career training, and family counselling.
International best practices will be followed in the new rehabilitation centres, they said.
