The UAE's official haj mission will start distributing hundreds of thousands of food parcels today to pilgrims at the Plain of Arafat. It is the second year that the mission, under the orders of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, has distributed the food. The initiative is carried out in the memory of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan, the founder of the UAE. The mission has prepared 5,000 food parcels for distribution to pilgrims before they move at dusk from Arafat to Muzdalifa.
The haj mission chairman, Mohammed Obeid al Mazroui, said the mission will continue distributing the food parcels to the pilgrims throughout the three days of Ayyamu Tashriq in Mina. Tomorrow pilgrims will move from Mina to the plain near Mt Arafat, where they will spend the day to mark the climax of the haj before moving at dusk to Muzdalifa for another phase of the ritual. Mr al Mazroui urged pilgrims to adhere strictly to the instructions of the haj contractors to ensure that the movement from Arafat to Muzdalifa was a success. *WAM
