DUBAI // Two security guards unintentionally killed a labourer, thought to be part of a gang of men trying to force their way into a building site, a court heard yesterday.

The Bangladeshis A A, 35, and J A, 37, were charged with physical assault leading to accidental death after allegedly striking their compatriot A H repeatedly in the chest in March.

A post mortem examination discovered that A H had a previous heart condition.

A third security guard at the building site in Al Barsha told prosecutors yesterdat that he had received a call from A A telling him that a few labourers from another company were at the building site, causing trouble and trying to force their way on to the site.

The guard arrived 15 minutes later and found A A and A J with their clothes torn. They said 10 to 15 labourers, who they would not allow on the site, caused the damage.

The guard went to call police and when he returned he noticed that J A had a cut on an eyelid and that A A was on the floor. The men told him that the labourers had attacked them and that they managed to capture one of them.

Police attended the scene and found A H lyingon the ground. Officers scrambled an emergency helicopter but A H was found to be dead by the time it arrived.

Both men denied the charges and the case was adjourned to October 31.
