Grand Mosque announces Ramadan line-up of prominent Quran reciters
ABU DHABI // The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque will host prominent Quran reciters to lead the Taraweeh and Tahujjud prayers throughout the month of Ramadan.
The mosque will also host nightly religious lectures by Islamic scholars from around the world, according to Wam, the state news agency. The lectures will be held after Taraweeh, the extra night prayer during Ramadan.
Sheikh Fares Abbad will lead Taraweeh prayers from the first to the tenth of Ramadan, followed by Sheikh Mishary Alafasi from the 11th to the 15th of the holy month, Sheikh Idris from the 16th to the 19th and Sheikh Abdul Alwali Alerake from the 20th to the end of Ramadan.
Sheikh Idris will also lead the Tahujjud night prayers from the 20th of Ramadan to the end.
The mosque is also undergoing final preparations for its annual iftar programme, Wam said. The Armed Forces Officers Club in Abu Dhabi will prepare and deliver 20,000 to 25,000 meals daily for worshippers breaking their fast at the mosque.
The Iftars will be held in Ramadan tents in the mosque's lower gardens.
Tours of the mosque will continue during Ramadan at 10am and 11am, but will not be held on Fridays.
