Yemeni president Abdrabu Mansur Hadi praised the stance of the UAE and its support for his country during a meeting on Monday with the UAE ambassador.

Salem Al Ghafli, the UAE Ambassador to Yemen, conveyed the greetings of President Sheikh Khalifa and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, for Eid Al Fitr as well as the liberation of Aden from the Houthis and forces loyal to former Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh.

Mr Hadi praised the UAE’s support to Yemen as it faces crises and challenges, according to the state news agency, Wam.

Mr Hadi asked Mr Al Ghafli to convey his greetings to Sheikh Khalifa and Sheikh Mohammed, while the UAE envoy emphasised his country’s support for the unity, security and stability of the Yemeni people, as well as the president’s constitutional legitimacy.

The Yemeni president had been reported to have left the country on March 25 earlier this year, and a Saudi-led coalition that day announced the beginning of air strikes on Houthi positions in Sanaa.

At least 3,200 people have been killed in the fighting, according to the United Nations.
