The UAE is participating in the 38th Session of the Permanent Arab Committee for Human Rights, which began on Monday at the General Secretariat of the Arab League Headquarters in Cairo.
Chaired by Dr Mohammed Al Rashidi, member of the National Commission for Human Rights in the Sultanate of Oman, the UAE is represented by Mubarak Al Hammadi from the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Dr Al Rashidi said a session will focus on a report from the General Secretariat of the Arab League regarding the steps taken to implement recommendations discussed during its session last year.
The committee also plans on promoting human rights culture through the proposed Arab regional strategy for human rights.
The five-day session will also cover ways to tackle Israeli violations of human rights in the occupied Arab territories, the Arab Charter on Human Rights and the improvement of the Arab Convention on Regulating the Status of Refugees in Arab Countries.
