ABU DHABI // The UAE’s human trafficking committee leader has thanked supporters of a fund set up to assist victims.

Dr Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and chairman of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking, said on Tuesday the setting up of the fund last year reflected the UAE’s moral and humanitarian values.

“This highlights the cooperation of the UAE community to counter and eradicate human trafficking in the UAE,” Dr Gargash said.

“The UAE believes it’s of great priority to help the oppressed restore their rights and dignity.”

The fund provides financial support to victims and “aims to help them overcome problems experienced as a result of coercive and exploitative practices”.
