UAE ministers addressed the Aqdar World Summit in Moscow on Friday on the second day of the event.

Youth empowerment
In the opening speech of day two, Shamma Al Mazrui, Minister for Youth, said that the summit was an opportunity to "build bridges between nations that advance global empowerment by, and for, communities".
"I believe that youth are central to the success of this mission," she said.
"The best futures belong to the nations that harness their youths' potentials."
Food security
She was followed by Mariam Al Mehairi, Minister of State for Food Security, who discussed the UAE’s strategy that is designed to ensure a year-long supply of home-grown and imported products in the decades to come, supporting the next generations.
Artificial intelligence
Omar al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, said that most people were unaware of how much a part AI plays in their daily life.
Just using a smart phone meant that they interacted with AI last thing at night and first thing in the morning, he pointed out, adding that the top five companies now had artificial intelligence at the core of their business.

Day one: a recap
On Thursday, Sheikh Saif bin Zayed paid tribute to the “positive and successful” relationship between Russia and the UAE in a keynote speech at the opening of the summit.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior welcomed the opportunity to share the success stories of the UAE.
He singled out the strategic partnership agreement signed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying it “represents an advanced step on the path to promoting mutual relationships and co-operation.”
This is the third Aqdar World Summit and the first to take place outside the UAE.
Noting that the main objective of the summit is “to empower human beings,” Sheikh Said quoted the Russian writer Leo Tolstoy "who said 'there is no weak man … there is a man who is not aware of his strengths'."
The success story of the UAE, he said, was rooted in the leadership of the Founding Father Sheikh Zayed “who saw the human being as a core value.
“Hence, [Sheikh Zayed] directed to preserve rights, provide all means to nurture and prepare, and empower humans to serve their country and society. These directives were a result of his firm belief that the humans are the foundation for development and civilisation.”
Sheikh Saif said the summit was brought to the Moscow so the UAE and Russia could share success stories.

Eight UAE Ministers and senior officials are taking part in workshops and panel discussions during the event, which ends on Sunday.
“We look forward to the positive outcomes of these workshops through promoting the exchange of expertise between the two friendly countries in all fields,” Sheikh Said said.
Prior to his speech, Sheikh Saif joined one of a series of workshops being held to give voice to issues concerning young people and visited the UAE’s exhibits at the Moscow Global Forum, known as the “City of Education”.
Over the next three days, wide ranging discussions will be held on developments in technology, food security, and the part played by the advanced sciences and future projects in improving the well-being of communities.
Among those taking part are the Ministry of Education, the UAE Space Agency, Zayed University Dubai 2020, and the National Archives.
The Moscow Global Forum is one of Russia’s largest conferences, covering education policies and programmes at national and global level.
During the summit, UAE Ministers and senior officials will put the spotlight on crucial global and national issues that include education, youth empowerment, food security, science and technology with the message “Nourishing Minds, flourishing Nations.”
After Sheikh Saif's keynote speech, a series of short sessions were hosted by members of the UAE delegation.

An ideas exchange
The first two summits have been held in Abu Dhabi. Ahead of the conference, Dr Abdul Al Salam Al Madani, executive chairman of Aqdar, said being invited to hold the summit in Moscow is a great opportunity.
“Aqdar is an Emirati summit that has become recognised globally. The fields under discussion vary between medical, legal and humanitarian, even the United Nations is involved."
Col Dr Abdulrahman Al Mansoori, general co-ordinator for the Aqdar World Summit, said the main goal is for Emirati and Russian organisations to learn from one another.
“We will share with them the UAE experience in fields like artificial intelligence, education and youth empowerment," he said.
"We will also learn how they overcame the challenges they faced while carrying out their own projects."
