ABU DHABI // Working hours for employees in the private sector will be reduced by two hours during Ramadan.

No salary reduction should accompany the shorter workday, the Ministry of Labour announced on Monday.

The announcement is the implementation of Article 65 of Federal Law 8 of 1980 on regulation of labour relations and its amendments, as per a circular issued by Saqr Ghobash, Labour Minister.

Federal ministries and Government bodies will operate from 9am to 2pm during Ramadan, state news agency Wam said yesterday.

The Holy Month begins on Sunday, June 29, and lasts until Sunday, July 27.
