Worshippers across the UAE celebrated the start of Eid Al Adha with morning prayers on Friday, as Muslims mark one of the most important occasions in Islam.

The UAE's rulers will visit mosques across the country to pray alongside the faithful before receiving well-wishers at their majlises.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, the Dubai Crown Prince, prayed at Sheikh Rashid Mosque in Zabeel. Sheikh Mohammed will receive well-wishers at the Zabeel Grand Majlis today.

The Imam's Eid sermon focused on charity and giving, highlighting rewards for good deeds.

He also reflected on the character of the late Sheikh Zayed, founding father of the UAE, who was known for his love of goodness, tolerance and benevolence. "He was an example of good and giving at home and abroad," he said.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, led Eid prayers at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. He will receive Eid greetings at Al Mushrif Palace.

The Eid Al Adha sermon included prayers for the mothers, fathers, wives and families of the martyrs to be compensated with good rewards, patience and peace.
It also included prayers for the prosperity of the UAE, the Arab alliance and the people of Yemen.

Following the prayer, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed visited the mausoleum where the tomb of the late Sheikh Zayed rests.

Rulers of the Emirates also performed Eid Al Adha prayers this morning at mosques in their respective emirates.
Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, performed the prayer at the Al Badeea Mosque which was followed by a sermon while Sheikh Humaid Al Nuaimi, Ajman's ruler, performer the prayer at the Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi mosque.


Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, ruler of Umm Al Quwain, performed the prayer at the Sheikh Zayed Mosque while the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, performed the prayer at the Grand Eid Mussala in Khuzam.
The ruler of Fujairah, Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, performed the prayer at the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in his emirate, followed by a sermon, and accompanied by Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Fujairah's Crown Prince.

Well-wishers extended greetings to President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, wishing him good health and wellness, and continuous success in leading the country.

They also wished for continued blessings, progress and prosperity for the UAE and its people.
