Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid has marked International Youth Day by congratulating young Emiratis for their hard work.

The Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai highlighted the endeavours of young citizens in taking the country to new heights in areas including nuclear energy and space sciences.

“On International Youth Day, we are proud that we are a youthful nation founded on young ideas,” Sheikh Mohammed tweeted.

“We are proud of our youth who are directing the aspirations of our people, from space exploration to nuclear power management, to consolidate sustainable economic development of our country.

“We believe that the young generation’s ideas and energies are the fuel that power our journey to achieve our dreams.”

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, also applauded the young.

“On International Youth Day, we acknowledge the achievements of the UAE youth and their role in leading the country's most notable recent projects, peaceful nuclear energy and the mission to Mars,” Sheikh Mohamed tweeted.

“Our trust in them is immeasurable, as they continue the legacy of our forefathers.

The UAE is the first country in the Arab world to have sent a mission to Mars, which will study the dynamic weather conditions of the planet.

It was the result of hard work by more than 150 Emirati engineers, scientists and researchers who worked on the project since its inception six years ago.

The UAE also became the first Arab country to produce nuclear energy after activating a reactor at the Barakah power plant in Abu Dhabi on August 1.
