Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed have launched an appeal to UAE residents to choose a new logo to represent the nation's journey over the next 50 years.
The Vice President and Ruler of Dubai took to social media to urge the public to play a role in shaping the UAE brand – with a pledge to boost the environment at the same time.
Sheikh Mohammed vowed that for every vote for one of the three logo designs, a tree will be planted.
In a post on Twitter, in which he shared a video featuring the potential designs, Sheikh Mohammed directed people to a website, http://nationbrand.ae, to have their say.
The logo would serve a similar purpose to the national tourism and marketing slogans such as Malaysia: Truly Asia, the Britain's GREAT campaign and Incredible India.
Sheikh Mohamed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, also encouraged UAE residents to take part in the campaign.
"I invite everyone to take part in choosing the UAE Nation Brand logo that will be the symbol of a nation that strives to be the best in the world," he tweeted.
The UAE leadership is gearing up for the future after unveiling an ambitious master plan last week to guide the country through its Golden Jubilee in 2021 – and for 50 years beyond.

Sheikh Mohammed and the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi announced that next year will be used to deliver a road map for the future and make preparations for grand celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the nation.
The bold vision – branded 2020: Towards the next 50 – will involve two committees being set up to drive the strategy.

One committee, to be headed by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, with Mohammed Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, serving as his deputy, will lay out a comprehensive development plan for the next 50 years.
Its responsibilities will include developing vital sectors including health, education, housing, transport and food security across the country.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, supported by Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed, will lead the second committee, focused on the organisation of the major celebrations to be held in honour of the 50th anniversary of the UAE.
The committee will be tasked with mapping out the Emirates’ Golden Jubilee celebrations, developing a comprehensive preparation plan and forming teams to organise events and activities to mark the occasion.
The committee will compile a record of the country’s achievements since its formation.
It will also involve foreign embassies in the preparations for the Golden Jubilee celebrations to promote the UAE’s global image.
