Local talent should be the bedrock of future development in Dubai, the emirate’s Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed said at the launch of a new skills training programme.

The Dubai Future Experts Programme will train young talent in the expertise required to create new future initiatives to cope with rapid global change.

Government departments have been invited to nominate suitable candidates to take part in the training at the Dubai Future Academy.

“This programme is another step towards preparing the next generation of future experts in strategic sectors and equipping them with the skills to identify and analyse key local, regional and global changes,” Sheikh Hamdan said.

Students will study over an 18-month period, with three levels of education each split over six-months.

Senior level employees are expected to take part from a variety of government sectors, including health, urban development, mobility, education, talent, security, energy, culture, society, technology, media and communication.

Each participant will present a research paper about the future of the sector he or she covers.

On completion of all three levels, participants will combine the findings of their research to develop a prototype or research model.

The best project of the Programme will be displayed at Area 2071 at the Dubai Future Foundation.
