DUBAI // Education, health, technology and the happiness of citizens will top the agenda at the forthcoming Government Summit.

This year’s theme is “Keeping pace with the knowledge age … Future education services”, announced Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Gargawi, Minister for Cabinet Affairs and chairman of the organising committee on Wednesday.

Mr Al Gargawi noted that the agenda of the second summit of its kind, to be held on February 10, was inspired by the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai.

According to state news agency Wam, the event will focus on future government services and ways to benefit from technology and smart services. It will also capitalise on the “positive echo and momentum” from last year’s conference.

Participants include 60 ministers, senior officials, chief executives from the private sector and international think tanks.

The summit will discuss international trends in using technology to improve education and identify the main opportunities and challenges facing so called “smart education” to keep up with changing trends in the sector.

It will also examine ways of providing efficient and technologically advanced health services, as well as ways to enhance social services to make them more accessible.

There will be sessions looking at the creation of smart cities to provide efficient and mobile services for residents, and a talk about how the banking and hotel sectors could benefit from government services.

Cooperation between the public and privates sectors is on the agenda, cited as being essential for the successful delivery of services to members of the public.

More than 3,500 government and private sector representatives are expected to attend.
