Sheikha Lubna urged world leaders to consolidate efforts to address global problems such as poverty, disease, lack of education and inequality.
Sheikha Lubna attends global development conference in Mexico
Sheikha Lubna Bint Khaled Al Qassimi, Minister of Development and International Cooperation, was part of a UAE delegation that Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation in Mexico City on Tuesday, where she addressed the issue of international development issues.
She urged world leaders to consolidate efforts to address global problems such as poverty, disease, lack of education and inequality.
She also called for more transparency and accountability in the developing world.
She said: “Under the guidance of its wise leadership, the UAE’s efforts to achieve the Millennium Development Goals by 2015 have made its an active member of the global community, acting as a key pillar for the stability and prosperity, focusing on support to developing countries and poor communities, while its humanitarian organisations and benefactors support global efforts in this framework through quality initiatives.”
The conference was organised by the The Global Network of Cities, Regional and Local Governments.
The UAE delegation included representatives from the Ministry of Development and International Cooperation, Dubai Cares, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Charity Foundation, the Emirates Foundation for Youth Development.
