Sheikh Mohammed honours Abu Dhabi Awards recipients

Nine individuals were honoured at the Abu Dhabi Awards on Monday night for their extraordinary contribution to the capital.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, congratulated the nine winners in a ceremony held at the Sea Palace.

"We meet here today to not only celebrate the achievements of these selfless individuals but also to inspire the nation to continue on this humanitarian path," Sheikh Mohammed said. "It is with immense pleasure that I, once again, congratulate these truly extraordinary individuals who have lifted our spirits and strengthened the spirit of our national union as set out by the Founding Father of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan.

The Abu Dhabi Awards is the emirate's highest civilian honour. It was established in 2005 by President Sheikh Khalifa to preserve the legacy of Sheikh Zayed, the Founding President, by inspiring selfless generosity and compassion.

This year's Abu Dhabi Awards was especially poignant in marking the Year of Zayed in recognition and gratitude of the legacy, values and principles of the nation’s Founding Father.

"With their ambitious vision, optimism, love for people and abiding patriotism, these individuals have not only garnered the respect of the nation, but also of those they have touched through their kindness and compassion, Sheikh Mohammed said.

"I am sure these individuals will continue to build on Sheikh Zayed’s vision and legacy as we strive to create a world of co-existence and peace."

Sheikh Mubarak bin Qarran Al Mansoori, who witnessed and documented Sheikh Zayed's bold vision to form the UAE.

Farah Al Qaissieh, who dedicated her time to support people with stutters.

Dr George Mathew, for his contribution Abu Dhabi's healthcare services over the past five decades.

Ibrahim Al Abed, for his contribution to UAE media and its development.

Dr Jayanti Maitra, who contributed to the documentation of UAE history.

Ali Bin Manea Al Ahbabi for his role in building an educated society.

Fatima Al Kaabi for effectively contributed to the community through her innovations.

Theban Al Mheiri for his accomplishments and achievements in the field of sports for special needs.
The late Dr Azzam Al Zoebie, who recorded achievements in the medical field by supporting awareness of blood diseases. Dr Lama Al Zoebie, his daughter, received the Award on behalf of the family.
