ABU DHABI // Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, will begin a three-day official visit to India on Wednesday.

The Crown Prince will meet the Indian prime minister Narendra Modi in the Indian capital, New Delhi, and will have talks with senior Indian government officials.

Sheikh Mohammed will be accompanied on the visit by a high-level delegation including ministers, senior government officials, business people and economists.

In August last year Mr Modi made a two-day visit to the UAE to reinforce the already strong ties between the countries: they established a joint infrastructure investment fund with projected capital of Dh275 million.

The visit was notable for Mr Modi’s speech at Dubai Cricket Stadium, which was attended by a crowd of about 50,000 enthusiastic Indian expatriates.

Official ties date to 1975, when the founding President, Sheikh Zayed, visited India and signed cultural and other agreements with the prime minister, Indira Gandhi.
