Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, cast his eye over the second edition of Gov Games on Thursday.

A total of 168 local, federal and international teams, including 62 female teams are participating for Dh3 million in prizes at the games taking place on Kite Beach.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, is leading by example by taking part in the event.

Sheikh Mohammed was briefed by Marwan bin Issa, the Games director, about various obstacle and levels of the competition. Sheikh Hamdan launched the event last year to encourage the public sector workforce to work as a team and test their mental and physical capabilities.

The respective men’s and women’s Gov Games champions will each secure a top prize of Dh1m.

The runners-up in each category will receive a prize of Dh300,000, while third-place finishers will each receive Dh200,000 per team.
