Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, announced a rewards programme for positive behaviour on Saturday.

This focuses on three main pillars: homeland, society and family.

The programme is an initiative of the Department of Behavioural Rewards of the Ministry of Possibilities.

Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, approved the national model for behavioural rewards.

He will lead the behavioural rewards management team working on a national plan to motivate positive behaviour.

The National Behavioural Rewards Programme is based on living a positive life.

People in the UAE can win "points" to pay for government services by demonstrating strong ethics, loyalty and patriotism.

It will be run in co-operation with Fazaa, a social initiative that aims to foster solidarity in the UAE community, and other private sector entities.

Sheikh Mohammed said Emirati values were extremely important for society.

“Encouraging positive behaviour contributes to improving the quality of life and achieving the happiness of society. Our inherent values have always been a hallmark of the Emirati personality,” Sheikh Mohammed said.

The Ministry of Possibilities – described as the country’s virtual ministry as it has no designated minister and is led by a committee of existing government authorities – was set up in April 2019 to take a new approach to tackle issues of national importance.

At the time, Sheikh Mohammed said he had launched the new branch of government to shake up current practices and help the country become a global power.
