DUBAI // Effective methods relying on creativity and the most efficient use of resources will help the nation to reach its goals more swiftly, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said on Monday.

Sheikh Mohammed, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, on Monday visited the headquarters of the Government Accelerators, which he launched on Sunday, and was briefed on its aims.

The initiative is a collaboration between public and private sectors and academia.

“Successful nations are not gauged by their size, but in the speed they achieve and bring forward innovative solutions to challenges in transitioning to the future, and active participation in making a difference in the lives of people,” he said.

“The move ushers in a new stage that will further strengthen the government agencies’ efforts to work under one umbrella in one location, to exchange views and to take direct decisions to overcome challenges and find appropriate and quick solutions to achieve the ambitions of people and aspirations of future generations.”

The first group of Government Accelerators will focus on five ministries: Interior, Economy, Human Resources and Emiratisation, Climate Change and Environment, and Education.

Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, said his ministry would aim to reduce the mortality rate on five of the most dangerous roads in the UAE.

“This would be achieved through the Government Accelerators in line with the implementation of the national agenda, based on the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid,” Sheikh Saif said.

“The accelerators aim at achieving happiness of citizens and global leadership in all vital sectors.”

He said the ministry’s goal was to reduce mortality on the five roads by 20 per cent from November 15 to February 15 next year, compared with the same period last year.

Those roads are the Abu Dhabi-Al Sila Road, Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Road, Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road in Umm Al Quwain and Maliha Road in Sharjah.

All government bodies under the umbrella of the accelerators programme will need to develop initiatives, laws, policies and services that support national indexes and programmes.

They will have to introduce joint projects to shift government services into advanced standards by 2021, Sheikh Mohammed said, adding that he would personally follow up on the implementation of plans.

Joining Sheikh Mohammed of his tour of the Government Accelerators headquarters at Emirates Towers were Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Saif and Mohammed Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future.
