Dubai // The winners of the 17th Dubai Government Excellence Awards were honoured by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, at the Dubai World Trade Centre yesterday.
Twenty seven government organisations submitted 327 applications for the prizes given in 21 categories.
Fourteen of the awards were reserved for government employees while 16 were handed out to various departments.
Dubai Police won the lion's share of the honours with seven awards including Mohammed Ali Al Marri winning "Distinguished new employee", Saeed Suhail Al Ayali taking "Distinguished employee in the field", and the entire department winning "Best Result in Employee Satisfaction".
Coming in second for most awards was the Roads and Transport Authority which collected four prizes which included "Distinguished Entity in Government Communication".
RTA employee Loulowa Yousif Al Asmakh was one of three women recognised at the ceremony, taking this year's "Distinguished Female Employee" honour.
Dina Mohammed Al Qudra of the Dubai Health Authority and Dubai Municipality's Hind Ismail Al Rahma completed the list of female winners.
After his department took four awards, Saeed Al Tayer, the chief executive of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, expressed his gratitude and his appreciation to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid.
"The awards further highlight Dewa's commitment to organisational excellence and all-round performance, and the standards we have set in delivering the highest quality of government services and bringing happiness to our customers," said Mr Al Tayer.
Being a part of the Dubai Government Excellency Programme, which culminates in the annual award ceremony, is mandatory for every government organisation in Dubai.
