Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai,  attended one of the toughest events in the English equine sporting calendar on Saturday.

He was accompanied by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma, President of the UAE Padel Association, to the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum UK Endurance Festival at Euston Park, Suffolk.

Sheikh Mohammed toured the race track and watched one of the stages of the competition.

More than 600 riders took part in the three-day championship that ends on Sunday.

Emirati Abdullah Al Marri won the 160 kilometres race with a time of 7:01:53 hours, and Shaheen Al Mazrouei took the 120km title with a time of 4:41:29 hours.

The event is one of the largest meetings of its kind and prizes totalled £1 million (Dh4.69m), said state news agency Wam.

It is considered the final stage in preparations for the World Endurance Championship in the US.
