The Ruler of Dubai confirmed the appointments of two new ministers on Saturday.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, also Vice President and Prime Minister, said Hamad Mubarak Al Shamsi would take on the role of Minister of State in the UAE Cabinet.
Mr Al Shamsi formerly held the position of secretary-general of the Supreme Petroleum Council.
Sheikh Mohammed said the decision was made under the directives of President Sheikh Khalifa following consultation with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
"All success to Brother Hamad in his new duties," said Sheikh Mohammed on Twitter.
Sheikh Mohammed said Khalifa Saeed Suleiman was named as head of ceremonies of the Vice President and Prime Minister, and would take the rank of a minister.
"Brother Khalifa is a key member of my team. May God grant them all to serve the country and the people," said Sheikh Mohammed.
The two men are just the latest additions to the UAE Cabinet.
Earlier this month, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-Operation shuffled some of its senior figures, with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar Gargash departing to take on a new role.
Dr Gargash became diplomatic adviser to the President, Sheikh Khalifa, while Zaki Nusseibeh was named cultural adviser to the President.
Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan, the former UAE ambassador to Saudi Arabia, took up the post of Minister of State, alongside Khalifa Al Marar, who was an assistant minister of political affairs.
The UAE also appointed its first ambassador to Israel in February.
Mohamed Al Khaja was sworn in by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid at a ceremony at Al Watan Palace in Abu Dhabi .
Last week, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed chaired a government retreat aimed at developing ways to guide the country through the next 50 years.
It brought together ministers, government officials and dignitaries to lay out a strategic framework to assess the performance of federal government and ministries.
