Sheikh Mohammed applauds government workers at graduation ceremony
DUBAI // In order to maintain the UAE’s position as a global leader, the Government needs to focus on developing the workforce, the Vice President said yesterday.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, said the development of the country starts with developing national capabilities during the graduation ceremony of the first batch of federal government employees using the Performance Management System.
“We want our Government’s work to be developed by the hands of our national experts and consultants,” Sheikh Mohammed said at the ceremony, held at the Presidential Palace, the state news agency Wam reported.
“We cannot keep competing internationally unless we qualify our national cadres to the international standards and make them an active part in the daily work cycle.”
The graduation of the 22 national experts in the field of government performance systems is conducted in cooperation with European universities as part of the Performance Management System, a programme that aims to qualify domestic experts and consultants to integrate sustainable quality performance indicators in the daily engagements of governments departments.
Sheikh Mohammed ordered the creation of the programme in 2010 in an effort to enhance government services.
“Building national human capacity was, and still is, one of the fundamental pillars that our country stood on,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
