French President and German Chancellor discuss ties with UAE on separate calls with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received separate calls from the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, and Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, on Thursday.

Conversations between Sheikh Mohamed and each of the European leaders centered on ways to bolstering ties between their respective countries and the UAE across various fronts.

Sheikh Mohamed and Mr Macron exchanged views on the latest regional and global developments, and spoke of the importance of ensuring joint co-ordination and the intensification of international efforts to enhance security and stability in the region, the state news agency Wam reported.

Sheikh Mohamed and Ms Merkel also discussed matters of global and regional interest and the spoke of the importance of prioritising dialogue and mutual understanding when addressing the challenges besetting a number of regions worldwide.

The two calls came days before France is due to host the 45th G7 summit on August 24 to 26 in Biarritz.

The summit will address global challenges in various areas, including economy, foreign policy and protection of the environment.
